    Primary Job Function

    Working closely with both business and IT teams to design, build and support corporate data warehouses and processes that will be utilized by business reporting and analytics teams.

    • Design, build, test, and maintain on-premises and cloud-based data structures such as data marts, data warehouses, data lakes, and data pipelines
    • Design, build, test, and maintain on-premises and cloud-based data pipelines to acquire, profile, cleanse, consolidate, integrate, and persist structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data
    • Work with internal and external data providers and subject matter experts to understand data sources and formats
    • Understand and influence the data provider roadmap of planned changes
    • Advocate for additional data sets and elements to improve delivered data products
    • Support exploratory data analysis, statistical analysis, predictive analytics, and machine learning models
    • Recommend ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality
    • Optimize and tune queries for performance
    • Assist in the construction of high-performance algorithms, prototypes, predictive models, and proofs of concept
    • Collaborate with data scientists, data analysts, and other team members on project goals
    • Select and integrate any data science, Big Data tools, and frameworks required to provide requested capabilities
    • Research opportunities for data acquisition and new uses for existing data
    • Monitor performance and recommend any necessary infrastructure changes
    • Integrate new data management technologies and software engineering tools into existing structures
    • Create custom software components and analytics applications
    • Explore and employ a variety of languages, tools, and interfaces to integrate systems
    • Remain current on data architecture, analytics, and data science developments
    • Ensure systems meet industry best practices and business, security, privacy, and retention requirements
    • Implement and update disaster recovery procedures

    Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • 2+ years’ experience working in a cloud data warehouse environment
    • Experience architecting cloud data solutions for BI and Analytics use
    • Experience with one or more of the following technologies:
      • Azure SQL Server
      • MS SQL Server 2008, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017
      • SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
      • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
      • Azure Data Factory (ADF)
      • Azure Logic Apps
      • Azure Data Lake
      • Power BI, SSRS or Business Objects a plus
    • Experience with Azure SQL DW pricing and geo redundancy models. Understanding of when to use Azure SQL DW vs Azure SQL Server/DB and loading patterns to move data from blob or ADLS into Azure SQL DW
    • 5 years of proven Microsoft SQL Server experience building and developing, architecting, deploying, and supporting data warehouse structures
    • Experience developing ETL processes (ADF and Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services packages), between moth internal and external sources.
    • Experience supporting end user reporting tools, (Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, Business Objects and Power BI)
    • Understanding of the overall solution design of how PowerBI and Azure Analysis Services fits into Azure architecture
    • Demonstrated ability to understand, discuss and document complex data models
    • Excellent communication skills to facilitate gathering and understanding requirements from business groups
